GIRL A GIRL B

A place where harmonies resonate and melodic nostalgia lives. ♫♪

Twins Elizabeth and Anita Eccleston band together with cellist Doug Gorkoff in this nostalgia-folk-pop trio presenting sublime covers and original songs in vocal harmony with their electrified ukuleles, horns and magic cello.

Forming in 2019, Girl A Girl B started as a special presentation for Elizabeth and Anita Eccleston’s brother, creating Phantom of the Opera and Sound of Music Suites for his musical-themed wedding. Forming a trio with Black Dog String Quartet’s cellist Doug Gorkoff, the wild, hilarious and emotional energy of this performance spawned the new band into being. Harnessing the powerful nostalgic effect of music, they began plotting their first performances that summer in Vancouver. Choosing a name to reflect the hospital ID-bracelets the twins were given at birth to tell them apart, Girl A Girl B is also derived from their favourite band Radiohead’s perfect album Kid A. The band came into the world with an amazingly eclectic collection of songs in their arsenal – tunes you forgot you knew that’ll sucker-punch you back in time.

Using synchronous vocal harmonies, their interpretations of these deep cut covers are augmented by the twins’ electric ukuleles, oboe, English horn, trumpet and flugelhorn, and Doug’s effects pedals through his magic cello. They are a tour de force of sounds, hitting that nostalgia folk pop button hard with electronic sonic experimentation.

Performing again after the 2020 hiatus, they have been featured in the Burnaby Blooms, Sounds Like Summer, and Canada Day Street Fest music series’ as well as club dates in Vancouver and Kamloops. They are currently composing and producing recordings for an upcoming official release later this year.
